Backrooms Extractions

Backrooms Extractions is actually a lot of fun—and yes, I genuinely liked this one.

You play as part of an extraction team (and yes, it’s multiplayer—thankfully), sent into different Backrooms environments to retrieve injured members of an exploration crew that didn’t make it out. It puts a really solid spin on the usual Backrooms formula by giving you clear objectives instead of just wandering until something eats you.

Each map comes with its own rules, monsters, and hazards, which keeps things interesting and forces you to adapt instead of playing on autopilot. On top of that, there’s a full risk–reward system: you get paid for every successful mission, and you can spend that money on better gear to improve your chances on future runs.

But—because it is an extraction game—if you die while carrying that gear? Yeah. It’s gone.

That adds a whole extra layer of tension, because suddenly every decision matters. Do you push a little farther, or do you play it safe and extract? The stakes feel real, especially when you’re running with friends and someone makes a questionable call (you know who you are).

My only real complaint is that I wish there were more levels. Once you’re fully locked in and having a good time, it feels like you hit the content ceiling a bit too fast. That said, this game feels perfect for future updates, and I’d love to see it expanded.

Overall, Backrooms Extractions is a strong Backrooms title and a great multiplayer experience. If you like cooperative horror, extraction mechanics, and the constant fear of losing everything you brought in, this one is definitely worth checking out. 👀💼
