Jen's Review

Lost Luminosity was EXTREMELY creepy in the best way. The atmosphere alone had me uneasy the entire time — dark, unsettling, and constantly making you feel like something was about to happen. And spoiler: it usually did.

There were a LOT of jumpscares, and they were actually well done — not cheap spam, but enough to keep me on edge and screaming at my monitor. The gameplay itself felt solid and smooth, which really helped keep the immersion going instead of pulling me out of the experience.

Now let’s talk story… It was good, but also kinda made me go: “Wait… huh?”

It made sense and didn’t make sense at the same time — if that makes sense. 😅 The lore was interesting, but a little unclear in places, and I found myself wanting just a bit more explanation or connection.

The ending is where it lost that final point for me. There are two different endings, which is cool, but neither one fully hit the way I wanted them to. And I’ll be honest — I really wish the game was longer. When it ended, my first thought was: “That’s it? I need MORE.”

Overall though? This was a really solid horror game with strong scares, great atmosphere, and engaging gameplay. It just needed a little extra polish, story clarity, or length to push it into that perfect 10/10 territory.

Still — absolutely worth playing if you love creepy, jumpscare-heavy horror games.

Oh, Lost Luminosity… one of the first games Jen ever gifted me. I actually really enjoyed this game and for being a relatively shorter, indie style game, it was very well done. From the moment you step into it, the game leans heavily into mood… the lighting, sound design, and environmental details all work together to create a constant sense of unease without relying on cheap scares.

What really stood out to me was how the game tells its story. Instead of overexplaining, it trusts the player to piece things together through exploration, visuals, and subtle narrative clues which I love. It made it feel more immersive and personal. The pacing is strong, slowly building dread while still giving you room to breathe and absorb the environment.

Gameplay-wise, it’s solid, never pulling focus away from the atmosphere. And let me tell you, there are a lot of really great jumpscares that had me screaming at Jen for the absolute diabolical ‘gift’ she sent me.

Lost Luminosity isn’t just scary… it’s thoughtful, eerie, and memorable. If you enjoy horror games that focus on ambiance and psychological tension rather than just nonstop action, this one is absolutely worth your time!
