Lysa Hora
Jen's Review
Lysa Hora ended up being a pleasant surprise.
I originally picked this one up as part of a game bundle, so I didn't really go into it with huge expectations. Usually, games like this can be pretty hit or miss.
Thankfully, this one landed on the positive side.
Lysa Hora is a shorter indie horror experience that doesn't try to reinvent the genre, but it does enough to keep things interesting from beginning to end. The graphics were better than I expected, creating a creepy atmosphere that fit the game well and helped keep me immersed.
The gameplay is mostly that of a walking simulator, so if you're expecting constant action or elaborate puzzles, you may want to adjust your expectations. The beginning is a little slow, and it takes some time before things really get going.
Once it does, though, the game throws in a handful of solid scares that help keep the experience entertaining. They're not nonstop, but there were definitely a few moments that caught me off guard.
Overall, I came away enjoying Lysa Hora more than I expected to. It's a simple, short indie horror game that knows exactly what it is. It won't end up on my list of all-time favorites, but for the price—especially if you pick it up as part of a bundle—it's absolutely worth giving a chance if you're looking for a quick horror experience to fill an evening.
