The 18th Attic is an anomaly game—and if you know me, you already know how this usually goes. I love anomaly games… I’m just really bad at them. They’re not bad games. I am the problem.

That said—I actually really enjoyed this one.

The story was surprisingly good. It’s not something that feels overdone or recycled, and as you play and slowly uncover what happened, the picture becomes clearer. And honestly? It’s sad. Genuinely sad. There should absolutely be a trigger warning for themes involving self-harm/unaliving oneself, because that element hits harder than I was expecting.

Gameplay-wise, it works well. Depending on which mode you choose—story or chase—your experience can be very different. In chase mode, you’re pursued through all 55 floors by an absolutely unhinged-looking mannequin that you cannot take your eyes off of. Look away for even a second, and yeah… you’re getting got.

That mechanic alone adds a ton of tension and keeps you constantly on edge. It’s stressful in the best way.

Overall, The 18th Attic ended up being a really enjoyable experience. If you like anomaly games, this is easily one of the better ones I’ve played—and that’s saying something, coming from someone who routinely panics and misses obvious anomalies.

Definitely give this one a shot. 👀

If our community knows anything about me they know: I typically strongly dislike anomaly games. My shiny ball syndrome makes me catastrophically bad at them. That said… The 18th Attic absolutely won me over. It does something most anomaly games don’t even attempt...it has an actual storyline. The length feels just right for the style of game it is. It never overstays its welcome, and the steady progression through the floors keeps things moving without feeling repetitive.

This isn’t a “constant scream-fest” kind of horror, and it didn’t exactly blow my wig back...but the atmosphere is tense and uncomfortable in a slow-burn way. And then there’s her. That antler havin' mannequin that gets faster with every floor? Yeah. Frankly terrifying. The escalating threat works incredibly well and adds real pressure the longer you survive when you're in Chase Mode.

The storyline is subtle but genuinely clever. If you turn on the radio on each floor and actually listen, the dialogue tells you what’s happening piece by piece and it made the experience feel far more intentional and immersive.

Mechanically, everything works smoothly. Because of how the game is structured, even with my attention span doing backflips, I stayed fully engaged and never got bored. That alone deserves credit. From a streaming standpoint, this game thrives. Chat was able to help spot anomalies I missed, which made the experience more interactive and fun instead of frustrating. Playing it on release day added to the excitement, and it felt like a great shared experience with the community!
