Jen's Review

December 19, 2025

Listen, if it’s between walking down the road in a thunderstorm or staying in this haunted house, I’m grabbing my rain boots and hoping the lightning’s feeling merciful. Ain’t no way you’d catch me hanging around an abandoned place like that—nothing but bad juju and bad decisions.

And another thing—whose memaw is this? Somebody better come collect her. She’s out here chasing me through hallways like I stole her secret cookie recipe! Ma’am, I don’t want none! Between the thunder outside and Memaw’s ghostly cardio workout, I didn’t know whether to scream or apologize for existing.

Gameplay was smooth, jumpscares were chef’s kiss, and the story kept me hooked all the way through. Honestly, no complaints from me—this one delivered exactly what a good horror game should: a mix of fear, laughter, and mild regret.

Highly recommend! Just… maybe play it with the lights on and your grandma accounted for.

Quick Summary: Great story, killer atmosphere, and one unreasonably athletic grandma. Apologies to my poor viewers who had to witness me trying to reason with a ghost like it was a family reunion gone wrong.

The Guest is one of those games that starts off slow and creepy and then suddenly decides to scare the sh*t out of you. You wake up alone in a weird hotel/house with no explanation, and at first it feels like a calm puzzle game… until it very much is not.

The puzzles are solid and make you actually think, but the real standout here is how intense the jump scares are. They come out of nowhere and hit HARD. Just when you think you’re safe, the game throws you straight into panic mode…especially when you are casually walking through the map doing puzzles and abruptly given the ability to sprint as your being hunted by Jen’s possessed Memaw.

The atmosphere does a great job of keeping you on edge the entire time. It feels claustrophobic, the sound design is super creepy, and the game constantly messes with your sense of safety. It’s short, but that actually works in its favor…there’s no filler, just puzzles, dread, and lots of f%#! off’s.

Overall, The Guest is perfect if you like psychological horror with aggressive jump scares and “WHY IS THAT RUNNING AT ME” energy. It’s unsettling, stressful, and a lot of fun.
