Jen's Review
Welcome to Kowloon pleasantly surprised me. I’ll be honest: the trailer looked good, but it was so vague about what the game actually was that I was a little hesitant to buy it. I wasn’t fully convinced I knew what I was getting into.
I’m really glad I took the chance.
You play as someone who moves to an area called Kowloon in search of cheap housing—which already feels a little ominous—and it doesn’t take long to realize that something is very wrong. The atmosphere is absolutely on point, and the gameplay complements it really well. Everything works together to keep you uneasy without feeling frustrating or clunky.
The story was solid too. It kept me engaged without overexplaining things, and the pacing felt just right. And the jumpscares? ✨ Chef’s kiss. ✨ Well-timed, effective, and not overused.
One of the most unsettling parts for me was the people who just… show up. Randomly bloodied, acting unhinged, clearly not okay. Those moments were top-tier uncomfortable and added so much to the overall dread.
Playtime-wise, it hit that perfect sweet spot—not so long that it dragged or felt padded, but long enough that it felt complete and satisfying by the end.
Overall, Welcome to Kowloon ended up being a really strong experience. If you’re on the fence because the trailer feels vague, trust me—it’s worth it. I’d definitely recommend this one. 👀
Kayla's Review
Welcome To Kowloon absolutely knocked it out of the park for me. This is one of the more jumpscare-heavy horror games I’ve played in a while but, miraculously, it never crosses into “okay, calm down” territory. Every scare felt intentional, perfectly timed, and made even more effective by the suffocating atmosphere of the apartment building. When it hits, it hits.
The setting does a ton of heavy lifting here. The constant tension, tight hallways, and oppressive vibe make you feel like something is always watching, which makes the jumpscares land harder instead of feeling cheap. I was on edge the entire time, and I loved every second of it.
Performance-wise, the game ran extremely smoothly, which is always a win in horror where stutters can completely kill the mood. The puzzles were simple, intuitive, and never slowed things down or made me feel stuck; they kept the pacing tight and the fear flowing.
Overall, Welcome To Kowloon was an incredible experience and delivered some truly fantastic “F off” clip moments. If you’re a fan of strong atmosphere, well-earned jumpscares, and horror that knows exactly when to strike, this one is absolutely worth playing.
