ZahmahreL
Jen's Review
Zahmarel was actually really solid—and yes, I liked this one.
First off, the gameplay deserves credit because it’s not just a walking simulator. You’re actively running from things, searching for items, and staying on your toes instead of just holding W and hoping something spooky happens. That alone bumped it up for me.
The story was good too. You play as a YouTuber investigating a haunted location, and while I absolutely could not stand the main character (he’s a total douche), his personality actually fits the narrative. He’s the kind of guy who would absolutely put himself in danger for content, and that made the whole setup feel believable. There are some solid twists and turns along the way that kept me invested.
The jumpscares? Yeah—there were several really good ones that got me. On top of that, the game throws in a few different mechanics that helped break up the pacing and kept things from feeling repetitive, which I really appreciated.
Overall, Zahmahrel is a solid horror game with engaging gameplay, effective scares, and a story that works—even if you love to hate the protagonist. I had a good time with it, and I’d definitely recommend checking it out if you’re looking for something a little more interactive than your typical indie horror experience. 👀
