So What Is Horror Hunt HQ, Exactly?
What is Horror Hunt HQ and how it all came to fruition.
So What Is Horror Hunt HQ, Exactly? 👻
So you’re here. Maybe you’ve been in Jen’s stream. Or mine. Or both.
Maybe you’ve heard us say “Horror Hunt HQ” approximately 47 times in one day.
Maybe you noticed the Discord name change and went:
“Okay but… what exactly is this?”
Fair. Valid. Mildly suspicious energy. We respect it. Well… let’s dive into it.
It Started With Two SAHM’s and Streaming 🎮
Horror Hunt HQ started with two horror-lovin’ girlies… who also ended up loving each other.
Our friendship started with me randomly stumbling into one of Jen’s streams. All I remember is seeing this blonde, southern-draw-havin’ girl playing a horror game and repeatedly screaming:
“WHO DAT IS?!” 👀
I was thinking about getting into streaming at the time, and for some reason, I was drawn to her energy. So I did what any normal person would do. I DM’d her and I asked for streaming advice. And honestly? The rest is history.
What started as random conversations about TikTok Studio and “how do you not panic on camera?” turned into one of the most treasured friendships of my life. And somewhere along the way, our communities started merging.
The Lightbulb Moment 😱
People had been asking Jen to start a Discord server for a long time. She wasn’t super Discord-savvy... and I was. And then one day it clicked. “What if we just… started one together?”
No big business plan.
No strategy meeting.
Just two friends wanting to continue building a community together.
What started as daily spooky streams quickly turned into:
A fast-growing Discord
An incredibly active community
Inside jokes that make zero sense to outsiders
And a giant feral family of people who genuinely look forward to hanging out
Somewhere in that growth, we realized something...
It wasn’t just about the games.
It wasn’t just about the streams.
It was about community.
Family.
Outlets.
Escapes.
No, We Aren’t a Cult
Our original server name was J&K Chaos Crew. Which, honestly, made perfect sense at the time. Our streams were chaotic, filled wit WHO DAT IS's, F*&! OFF's, THAT'S GONNA BE A NO FOR ME BIG DAWG's, and involuntary spirit finger responses.
But as the community grew, we started asking ourselves...We’ve built something special here… what else can we do with it? And that’s when things escalated in the best way.
From Chaos Crew to Horror Hunt HQ 💀
Jen had the idea to create a web-based app where we could score and review Roblox horror games. A full-on competition to find the scariest title on Roblox. This was around the time Scary Shawarma was popping off, and the community was obsessed. So we started there.
And then? It snowballed. What began as Roblox horror reviews turned into a full fledged website scoring games across all platforms, spoiler free walkthroughs and puzzle guides (because some of us will rage quit without them), the lore vault, blog posts, merch... and more ideas than we probably have sleep for.
Horror Hunt HQ stopped being just a Discord server. It became a brand. A hub. A home base.
So What Is Horror Hunt HQ? 💯
Here’s the part where I get a little soft. Don’t make it weird.
Yes, we review games.
Yes, we stream.
Yes, we have merch and projects and big ideas.
But at the end of the day? Horror Hunt HQ is a place where members aren't ignored, where regulars and fellow streamers aren't gatekeepers, where there's not hidden motive or expectations, where viewers don't just stay viewers... they become friends.
Streams feel less like content and more like a chaotic family reunion.
We pray for each other.
We laugh together.
We cry together.
We are vulnerable together.
We are just a bunch of regular people who happen to enjoy a lot of the same spooky related stuff… and somehow found each other on the internet.
What started for me as an outlet...a way to disconnect from life’s stress and just have fun has turned into a friendship with Jen I wouldn’t trade for the world and a family we've built together from the ground up.
There’s something really beautiful in that.
So when people ask, “What is Horror Hunt HQ?”
It’s family.
It’s love.
It’s community.
It's feral.
It’s zero judgment.
It’s chaotic support.
It’s home.
And no… still not a cult. (At least not yet.)
